Service design for an education center

Service design for an education center on environmental technology in Nepal

Within the last two years, the Gandaki Urja Pvt. Ltd, a biogas bottling plant in Pohara, Nepal, has become an educational hub. Many people visit and request information on both technology and sustainability in general.
Challenge
The project aimed to use service design methodology and create a concept for an education center for a biogas plant in Nepal, primarily focusing on the user experience and information accessibility at the center.

Process
Desk research and in-field research were used to gain a deeper understanding of Nepal's energy and environmental situation, as well as the motivations and expectations, prior knowledge, experiences, and interests of the target audience. Co-creation has been used to develop a concept together with visitor representatives.
Result
The project resulted in a concept for an education center with graduate students in fields related to energy and the environment as the target audience. Through research conducted in this study, we discovered a lack of awareness of actions that could be done on the national, community, and individual levels. The education center tries to raise awareness of environmental issues and sustainable development of national significance, as well as encourage community-level and individual-level actions. The education center uses various interpretation methods, including participatory exhibits and game-based elements, to achieve an educational and entertaining experience.
